Who is actually in
Hybrid Overlap Mapping
A map of who comes in on which days, who they can actually sit with, and whether 'core days' produce overlap or just a quieter version of the same empty floor.
Hybrid Overlap Mapping exists because a policy that says 'Tuesday and Thursday in the office' can still produce a floor where the designer never meets the estimator, and both still commute.
Johor Bahru teams that split time with Kuala Lumpur or Singapore offices feel this sharply. The map treats the Causeway delay, Friday prayer, and school-run hours as part of the week, not as noise around a clean diagram.
Who it is for
Facilities and department heads running two or three named office days whose floors still feel sparse, or whose teams complain they never see the people they came in for.
What you receive
A week-shaped map of attendance, intended overlap versus actual overlap, and a recommendation for which days — if any — should be renamed or dropped.
Scope
One floor or one team for two consecutive weeks, including badge or desk-booking records if they exist.
Duration
Three weeks including the two observed weeks.
Where it happens
The client's floor. Cross-causeway colleagues are counted if they are part of the named team.
Fees
From RM 4,200.
Included
- Two weeks of attendance reading from badge, desk-book, or a simple sign-in the team already uses
- Comparison with calendar locations ('office' vs 'home')
- One observation day on a named core day and one on a supposedly quiet day
- A briefing with a proposed overlap calendar
Not included
- New badge hardware
- A desk-booking product
- Headcount reduction advice
Sequence
How this study runs
-
Records
We work with whatever attendance record already exists. If there is none, we agree a two-week honour sign-in rather than installing a system.
-
Floor days
We sit through a core day and a quiet day to see whether the named policy matches the bodies in the room.
-
Map
The briefing is a week diagram, not a slogan about hybrid work. It names which pairs of people never coincide.
Who leads it
Workspace Map Base, Johor Bahru.
Preparation
A statement of the current office-day policy; any desk-booking export; permission to be present on two named dates.
Limits we will not move
We do not publish named attendance lists beyond the sponsor. Maps in the briefing use role groups or anonymised seats unless the team is small and consents otherwise.
Next step
Tell us how many named office days you currently run and how many people sit on the floor on a busy day.
