Chat and evening load
After-hours Channel Review
An aggregate reading of when messages land, which channels stay noisy after close, and how that sits against the office's stated hours — without opening private threads.
Workplace chat is where many Johor Bahru teams now do the work that used to wait for the morning table. An After-hours Channel Review looks at the clock, not the sentences.
We have declined briefs that wanted a league table of night owls. The useful finding is usually a channel that still carries operational decisions after 8 p.m. because nobody named a daytime owner.
Who it is for
People partners and team leads who hear that evenings are not really evenings, and who need aggregate evidence rather than anecdotes.
What you receive
A briefing of after-close volume by weekday, a list of channels that behave like always-on rooms, and suggested quiet hours the team can actually keep.
Scope
Named workplace chat spaces for one team, using timestamp and channel-name exports — not message bodies.
Duration
Two weeks.
Where it happens
Export work at our practice; interviews on-site where possible.
Fees
From RM 2,900.
Included
- Reading of consented timestamp exports
- Four interviews about how evening pings are felt
- A briefing with a quiet-hours proposal
Not included
- Reading message text or direct messages
- Personal phone records
- Surveillance of individuals after hours
Sequence
How this study runs
-
Export rules
We take timestamps, channel names, and approximate size — not content. If an IT contact cannot produce that cut, we stop rather than widen access.
-
Interviews
We ask when people feel they must still be reachable, including weekends and public holidays in Malaysia.
-
Proposal
Quiet hours only stick if the channels that matter have a daytime home. The briefing names those homes.
Who leads it
Workspace Map Base practitioners; interviews in Johor Bahru or by video.
Preparation
An IT or workspace-app administrator who can export timestamps without message bodies; a statement of official working hours and on-call rules if they exist.
Limits we will not move
Refuse any brief that asks us to name the most active evening senders for performance review.
Next step
Ask your administrator whether a timestamp-only export is possible. If it is not, we will say so plainly and suggest interviews only — at a different fee.
